Three toothless old women, neither human nor entirely empyreal. They are a strange combination of both, sprung from the rising darkness and the convergence of the species and races over the last few millenia. They seem to like fresh meat, possibly raw. 2:3
Grendel was Hrothgar's and Froda's grandson. It is thought that he and his mother had started changing into "something else" during their banishment in the wilderness. Grendel is stooped and naked except for the hair that grows coarsely over its entire body. It has massive fingers and claw-like nails. It's eyes shine with yellow light. 2:1
One of the Seven Dæmons, Abelgan is never without Sæl. Abelgan presents as an eight-year-old boy, whose skin and eyes often burn red. Sæl is a stooped old woman in ragged, filthy robes with a lame leg who carries a staff. She only a handful of matted grey hair remaining on her head, and this is around a bald spot on the back of her head. She is actually part of Abelgan, though she can detach from him. 2:5
The twegen hæfel is a Prophecy Keeper who lives in a "cave" of trees on the Forlætan Island, in Idel Lake, in Ulster Province, of the Milesian Kingdom. She has an ostrich-like body, two ostrich-like necks, and two human-looking heads.

The centicore is an enormous black beast with two very long, movable horns, which can point in two directions at once.
Acrasia is one of the Seven Dæmons, who goes by the name of Regowuh Gebs: an enormous twelve-year-old girl with a mark on her forehead that looks like a leaf. She is often accompanied by rats and wolves. 2:2
Dakkalfar are Dark elves who live underground.
Fomorians are a huge, misshapen race of exceptionally cruel Dark fairy.
Clurichauns are a type of Dark fairy
Retrapods are a Light empyreal species with backward feet (otherwise human looking) who run very fast.
A shape-changing empyreal species of the light.
Callatrice are a species of Light empyreal with small dark eyes.
Hercineae are a tall, thin empyreal species of the Light, with narrow, pointed faces, small dark eyes, and covered with downy white feathers that glow golden in the dark.
Milesians are warrior empyreals of the Light, who are very tall with skin so transparent their veins are easily visible.
The dananns are small, stocky, pale Light fairies from the mountains of Southern Ærestgeard, who spend much of their lives underground.
Tall, blond fairy of the Light
Nemedians are a race of Light fairy.
Moruadhs are fairies of the Light.
Scops are keepers of the secret ancient books. They dress in robes of strange shimmering cloth, seem to float when they move, and have no mouths. 1:6
Argante is one of the Seven Dæmons. He is goatish looking with horns, white hair, black beady eyes, and scaly skin covered in filth. 1:5
A demon that hovers just over the ground, whose extremeties float outward from its body like an octopus's tentacles. It has a small protrusion on top which seems to be a face, but it has no eyes, ears, nor any other facial features. It's "arms" and "head" are the color of pitch, and its body is a patchwork of black and red. 1:6
Thearfian is a skeletal, crouching demon with sharp teeth and claws, lanky hair, and sunken eyes. Its skin is ghostly white, and its bones protrude sharply. Brownish-yellow bile drips from its mouth, and it snaps and growls at everything that comes near it. 1:5

Fenmine are an empyreal species of both the Light and the Dark, which have the ability to change their faces from that of a human to that of a serpent, with long fangs, scaly serpent-like skin, and eyes that shine like lanterns and paralzye their opponents. In human form, they have ice-blue eyes and cropped or short(the women) black hair, and they wear long grey hooded cloaks.
Dwarves are an empyreal race of the Dark.
Goblins are a race of Dark fairy and one of the stupidest empyreal types. They have sharp teeth, creases in their brows well up their hairless heads, and fairy glow of a sickly green color.
A type of Dark fairy
Sluagh are a grotesque type of Dark fairy who can appear beautiful. In true form, they have matted, slimy hair and are the same size as goblins and have the same creased, scowling faces and foreheads, but they are even uglier. They wear gold jewelry: rings on their knotted hands, heavy necklaces around their necks. 1:3
Dryads are tree sprites of the Light. They are lanky young women with long, silky black hair that falls in loose curls down their backs over crimson cloaks. Their skin and eyes are brown, and they can easily blend into the trees around them. They carry thin three-foot oak bows painted with delicate geometric shapes.
Panotii have large floppy ears that they use as wings and can wrap around themselves while at rest. They have sharp talons that extend from the tips of their fingers and toes. 1:1
They are a short, stocky race of Light fairy. Rædan is a marcra fairy.
Firbolgs are a race of Light fairy that often serves other empyreals. They are small and thin with olive skin and green eyes.
Paladins are a race of Light fairy. They are the protectors of the fairy kingdom: tall and strong with dark, russet-colored skin, black eyes, and smooth black hair.
Highly intelligent fairy race of the Light, the asrais are lake fairies who glow white and are only visible at night. They turn to water at a touch, so they are almost impossible to capture. 2:Prologue (Book 2: Prologue)
